Fiction project - Junk shop & the farm

For the fiction project I have chosen the story "The Incredible and Sad Tale of Innocent Erendira and Her Heartless Grandmother".

Over the summer we had to make observational drawings covering three categories - spaces/places, objects/props, and characters.

One of the first places that came to mind when reading the story was the junk shop in Greenwich - the way the interior of the mansion is described with all its excessive clutter reminded me of how the shop was laid out - a kind of organised chaos.

I also found a creepy doll hidden in a corner!

I also visited the Surrey Docks city form to visit some donkeys and mules. I found drawing from live, moving animals quite refreshing after drawing such fiddly scenes in the junk shop - I realise that drawing 'complete' scenes is quite challenging for me and with these drawings I felt like I could be more free.
